Amato's Plans Expanison into Bangor

PORTLAND, MAINE - (July 30, 2007) – Amato’s announced today major company growth through franchising with a three-location development agreement in Bangor, Maine with Coldstream LLC.

The brand, which has answered demands from its customer base for authentic Italian flavors for 105 years, is poised to penetrate the previously untapped Bangor market this fall.

"We are pleased to bring to the Bangor area the very best service, quality and true Italian flavors that Amato’s is known for,” states Amato’s president and owner, Dominic Reali. "Our authentic Italian flavors will always be what sets us apart from our competitors. If our history holds true, this will be the case in Bangor, too."

Coldstream LLC, owned by the father-son team of Mark and Michael Hunter, has contracted with Amato’s for a three-store deal. The first location, at 657 Broadway in Bangor, is scheduled to open October 2. The other two stores will be located in Bangor and Orono. Coldstream LLC has not yet announced the exact locations and opening dates of those stores. All locations will offer Amato’s complete line of sandwiches, salads, appetizers, pasta dishes, pizzas, calzones, and of course, the company’s trademark “Amato’s Original” Real Italian sandwich.

“When we were looking for a new business venture, Amato’s came to the top of our mind because of their long-standing reputation for high quality, quick service, and fair pricing,” notes Michael Hunter. “On a personal level, I remember growing up and looking forward to when someone in my family would visit Portland because they would come back with a bag full of Amato’s Italian sandwiches. Knowing we aren’t the only family in Bangor who enjoy these unique sandwiches, we believe Amato’s will be well received in this city.”

Mark and Michael Hunter previously owned and operated Hunter Property Investments with 12 properties in the Bangor and Orono areas. Mark Hunter worked for 30 years in the paper industry in Maine before retiring and starting up Hunter Property Investments with his son. He graduated from University of Maine in 1971. Michael Hunter graduated from University of Maine in 2006.
